Recreation Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities :  
  • Assess patients' needs through observations, medical records, tests, and talking with other healthcare professionals, patients’ families, and patients
  • Create treatment plans and programs that meet patients’ needs and interests
  • Plan and implement interventions to prevent harm to a patient
  • Engage patients in therapeutic activities, such as games and field trips 



Salary :$48,850 




Education :     requirements at this level consist of a master’s degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation or physical education and two years experience in recreational therapy; or a bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, outdoor recreation or physical education and three years experience in recreational therapy; or an equivalent combination of education.  









Reflection : I think that a Recreation Therapist needs to help older people.  They have to take care of them and give them food and treat them with good care.  This is what i think of what they have to do.

Thoracic Surgeon


Duties and Responsibilities: Specializing in surgical procedures related to the chest, thoracic surgeons are some of the remarkably few people who can say they have held someone's heart in their hands -- literally. These medical professionals undergo many years of education and rigorous training to prepare them for a career in the operating room -


Salary :$350,000



Education:The American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) maintains standards for the practice of thoracic surgery in the public interest. Thoracic surgeons who have completed approved residency training, hold a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, and maintain an ethical standing in the profession are eligible for board certification. 




Reflection: A thoracic surgeon is a medical doctor who performs operations on the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Radiologic Technologists use x-ray machines, ultrasound machines, magnetic resonance scanners, positron emission scanners, and other technologically advanced machines to help diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries under the direction of a physician.  They arpment at the right distance and right angle from the patient to make the appropriate images for the physician.  Radiographers also assist physicians in performing sophisticated procedures.  It is their responsibility to ensure that the radiology equipment is properly maintained. 



Salary: $24,000 - $36,000

Reflection: I think that it is important to know what are we going to do because we all need to make our own choosing the right.

                                                               Radiation Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities:   Radiation Therapy Technologists assist radiologists and onocologists (cancer specialists) in treating diseases by exposing areas of patients' bodies to ionizing radiation.  In addition to helping with treatments, technologists are responsible for maintaining the radiation therapy equipment and helping to maintain patient records.  Radiation therapy is provided in hospitals, public health clinics, cancer treatment centers, and private offices


Salary:   $22,000 - $36,000



Education:    students should take the most challenging science, math, and English courses available in high school. 
Students can train to become a radiation therapist in either one or two year programs.  One year programs are often offered by hospitals.  To qualify for a one year program, an applicant must have graduated from an approved program in radiologic technology or been a nurse with education in radiation physics.  A high school diploma or a GED is required to enter two year courses.
